Psychedelic, Adventurous, Zen?? Which do you choose?

Choice is an interesting concept.  Did you know that we make far more choices every day than we realize?  Choosing what to have for breakfast, choosing how fast to drive, choosing what to wear.  But our most important choices have to do with our perspectives.  How will we look at our world?  Many of us believe that life is just the way it is and if we are stuck in any area, it's going to take a lot of effort to change it.  But just try this for three days:  pick an area of your life in which you feel stuck and look at it from one of these three perspectives:

Psychedelic   How does the project at work that you have been putting off look from the psychedelic perspective?  Does it seem more colourful, flowing, freewheeling?

Adventurous   How about the from the adventurous perspective?  Do you see yourself as a modern-day Indiana Jones, hacking through the undergrowth to get the project completed?

Zen  Or how about Zen-like?  Almost like you are in a trance-like state, with lots of deep breathing and inspiration coming easily?

How does getting fit look like from each perspective?  Spring cleaning? Running a marathon?

Here's the fun part:  You get to choose what those perspectives mean to you and your topic (whatever you feel stuck about).  If you really want to have fun, look at your topic from all three perspectives.  Really inhabit them and find the truth of each for you.  Or make up your own perspectives.

Then choose a perspective and look at the area in your life where you are stuck through that lens.  See if it is easier to move forward.  Choosing your perspective might be the most important choice you make all day!

  1. Great post Becky, I tried this and it really had a powerful impact on how I felt about the situation itself. It's like magic once we realize the possibilities that become available simply by changing our perspective.
